I have always used EIT to collect program information on both dvb-t and dvb-s. I don't see the need to setup all the xmltv stuff just to get 7 extra days. I never look at the program schedule anyway as I let the scheduler do that for me automatically.
I have found EIT to be very reliable once you get it started and that is the catch .. getting it started can be a challenge sometimes.
I have been using Drupal for a number of years to make all my websites. I originally used Drupal 6 but I am now exclusively using Drupal 7. I have run a web based address book for a while but I wanted to transfer it to Drupal as it should be easier to maintain and also share with others.
The design of the address book allows other members of the family to see all the entries and add them to their own mailing lists if required. Different mailing lists can also be created for Christmas Cards and special family events.
On my Asus Ee PC laptop I run openSuSE 11.4. As I want decent maps to help with geocaching I installed MemoryMap using wine. To make it even more useful I want to be able to display my current location on the map.
I seemed to be having lots of reliability problems using the D-Link modem for my ADSL access so I decided to change to a DSL modem. I chose the Draytek Vigor 120 ADSL2+ as it had good reviews. Unlike the D-Link mode, that uses DHCP to pass the external IP address, this operates as a DSL modem with the driver software creating a dsl0 device that is independent from the ethx device that the modem is physically connected to. The login parameters are defined in the operating system software rather than the modem.
For many years the only frontend I used with MythTV was the mvpmc. However, once I started installed my DVB-S2 card in the slave backend and recorded some HD content from Freesat I needed a different sort of frontend to watch it.
I decided to go to install a small PC below my TV that would act as a dedicated frontend with no backend function. I chose the following
I had been planning to upgrade the software on the server once openSUSE 11.2 was released but the timing was not planned in the way I would have liked if you read my notes on mythTV you will see that the need to get my slace backend connected forced the upgrade of mythTV on the server which, sort of, forced the whole machine to be upgraded.
